A French king of New York?
During Christmas, Victor Wembanyama splashed the NBA world with his talent by making Madison Square Garden his home. Even though victory eluded him, he put out one of the best performances of his career at the best of times. Proof, if one were still needed, of his immense destiny.
Tonight, the alien stays in the city that never sleeps, but crosses the Brooklyn Bridge. He faces the Nets who have one of the weakest rackets in the entire League. The opportunity for him to panic the counters again, and to make the most of his first Christmas in New York!
Conference Finals Rematch
Last year, the Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers met in the Conference Finals. A new, exciting poster which – according to Joe Mazzulla – had been the most complicated for his players in their journey to the title. So there is no doubt that the champions will be very wary of their evening opponents.
However, Rick Carlisle's men are disappointing this season, starting with their leader Tyrese Haliburton. They have, for the moment, a negative record and are relegated behind teams like the Heat or the Hawks despite their recent resurgence in form. A benchmark victory would be good for this franchise, but it will be hard to achieve.
Change of bosses in the West
The Houston Rockets are having an admirable season. They are currently second in the Western Conference and prove that they will be one of the teams to watch in the coming seasons. A place occupied by the Minnesota Timberwolves last year.
Except that since the transfer of Karl-Anthony Towns during the offseason, everything is more complicated for Anthony Edwards' teammates. The Wolves have lost their splendor and have more or less exchanged their status with that of their evening opponents compared to last season. Tonight, it will be an opportunity for them to prove that their place still belongs to the elite of the West, to hope to get back on track during the second part of the season.
The French in the running this evening:
- Pacôme Dadiet against Orlando.
- Victor Wembanyama vs. Brooklyn.
- Rudy Gobert against Houston.
- Nicolas Batum against Golden State.
