The community of communes Vie et Boulogne (Vendée) is launching an experiment until January 15, 2025. Every day, residents of the area can benefit from two carpooling trips offered on the Karos mobile application.
2 euros per trip received by drivers
This application connects drivers and passengers who make similar journeys at the same times, minimizing detours.
The driver receives €2 per journey of five to fifteen kilometers (then €0.10/additional km). For the passenger, the ticket is free for journeys up to twenty-five kilometers (then €0.10/additional km), for 2 daily journeys.
Already 4,000 users
This free experiment is supported by the Vie et Boulogne intercommunality which wishes to develop carpooling to strengthen the purchasing power of residents and act to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
She argues that nearly 4,000 residents and employees of Vie and Boulogne are Karos users, with more than 58,000 carpooling journeys already made. Which still leaves great prospects for this local carpooling network in an area of 45,000 inhabitants.
