Are you going to spend a weekend and Christmas vacation under the clouds or under the sun? It really depends on where you live. Here are Météo France's forecasts for December 28 and 29 and for the last days of the year.
Saturday December 28
The sun will be present from the morning from the Pyrenees to Languedoc-Roussillon. The sun will stay in our regions all day. The expected maximums are 12°C in Montauban; 13°C in Rodez, Auch; 14°C in Toulouse, Albi, Castres, Cahors; 15°C in Carcassonne; 16°C in Foix; 17°C in Tarbes.
Elsewhere in France, the sun will shine on Auvergne, Rhône-Alpes, PACA and Corsica. Over Burgundy and the Grand-Est, low clouds will mix with clearings. Beware of locally freezing fog in the Alsace plain in the Val de Saône. From Normandy to the Center Val de Loire, gray weather remains the order of the day, sometimes accompanied by light drizzles. In the afternoon, the sky will often remain overcast and gray north of an axis going from the Ardennes to the Gironde estuary. A few pockets of low clouds hold out occasionally, over Aquitaine, Burgundy or Alsace. Everywhere else, sunshine is forecast. The maximums will range from 2°C in the northern half of France to 18°C at the foot of the Pyrenees and around the Mediterranean.
Sunday December 29
The morning will start under the sun except from Gers to Tarn-et-Garonne and the Toulouse region which will be in fog. A vast sun will continue to shine over Occitanie in the afternoon. The fog could be slow to lift in the Garonne valley. Frosts will be possible in the morning with minimums between – 3°C and 3°C. The maximums announced will be colder than the day before: 5°C in Albi; 6°C in Montauban, Cahors; 7°C in Toulouse and Castres; 9°C in Tarbes, Auch, Rodez, Carcassonne; 12°C in Foix
Elsewhere in France, gray weather will continue in the North and West. Over a large northwest third, the gray weather will become thicker with occasional drizzle. The sun will continue to shine in the mountains and in the Mediterranean regions. Temperatures will drop to –5°C in the morning in France. The maximums will range from 2°C in Alsace to 14°C on the Côte d'Azur.
Monday December 30
There will be numerous fog banks in the morning in the Garonne valley, the foothills of the Pyrenees, the Gers and the Lot. The sun will shine on the other departments of the region. In the afternoon, the sun will end up shining everywhere in Occitania but the fog will sometimes have difficulty disappearing. The predicted maximums are 5°C in Montauban, Albi, Cahors; 6°C in Toulouse; 7°C in Castres and Auch; 9°C in Carcassonne; 10°C in Tarbes, Rodez.
Elsewhere in France, in the morning, clouds will still be present from Brittany to Île-de-France and Hauts-de-France. Clearings will dominate elsewhere after the dissipation of numerous fog banks. The sun will persist from Rhône-Alpes to PACA. The weather will not change much in the afternoon. Clearings and sunshine will dominate except from Brittany to Île-de-France and Hauts-de-France where the clouds will remain. The maximums will be between 3°C in Alsace and 15°C on the Côte d'Azur.
Tuesday December 31
Like the day before, the morning will take place in the fog in the Toulouse region, in the Garonne valley, on the Lot or the Gers. Elsewhere in Occitania, the sun will shine brightly. Once the fog disappears, the sun will shine throughout the region without exception. The expected maximums are 7°C in Montauban; 8°C in Auch and Cahors; 9°C in Rodez; 10°C in Toulouse, Tarbes, Foix, Albi; 11°C in Carcassonne and Castres.
Elsewhere in France, in the morning, the entire northern half will be under clouds. From Bordeaux to Lyonnais and in the Garonne valley, fog banks are expected to be numerous. The sun will shine on the Pyrenees, in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and in PACA. Not much development in the afternoon except that the clearing will extend to Alsace. The maximums will range from 2°C in Alsace to 14°C on the Côte d'Azur.
Early January 2025
The dry and calm weather will end from January 1 as an active disturbance will cross France from north to south, with rain and strong winds. Snow will return to the mountains at low altitude. The north-east of France will see the flakes stick to the ground. In the south-east of the country, the mistral and the tramontane will lift by the end of the week. At the end of the week, the weather will be dry and quite cold again, predicts La Chaîne Météo.
