They are between 28 and 70 years old, live in Calvados and have “moved from the mountains” to participate in the competition for the best choir in France, broadcast this Friday, December 27 at 21h05 on France 3. Faced with nine other regions, the Normandes of Heart of Mep – the choir of the “Musique en Plaine” school in Caen-la-Mer −will try to win the title.
Choir Cœur de Mep was formed three years ago in Bourguébus, in Calvados. “There were so many female candidates that we started singing among women and it was an immediate match”remembers Caroline Géa, lyrical singer who directs this 100% female choir.
Today, it is a spirit of mutual aid and sisterhood that unites these 35 singing enthusiasts, all active alongside their investment in the choir.
These “everyone” moved mountains to live this incredible experience.

Lacking male voices, the choir has adapted its repertoire over the years. “We have less choice and this encourages us to choose original songs, which we are not used to hearing. There is this constraint of having, despite everything, a real bass line”explains Caroline Géa.
The singing teacher and her choir like to arrange songs “in their own way”, like “Sky Boat Song”, a Scottish song from the series Outlander and covered a cappella, or “I Will Follow Him”, by Sister Act.
This evening, the Cœur de Mep choir will perform the song “Mama Mia” by the group Abba and “I’m dreaming of home” by Philippe Rombi. “Initially, we participated for fun, driven by the desire to experience an adventure. The project gradually came to fruition and it became more serious. There was the euphoria of participating in the show,” explains the choir director, who specially traveled to Royal Palace of Kirrwiller, in Alsace, for the filming.
It’s exceptional to have experienced this adventure together. This further strengthened our bonds which were already strong.
