Teammate and compatriot of Frenchman Cyprien Sarrazin, victim of a heavy fall on Friday during training for the Bormio World Cup downhill, Nils Allègre put into words his anger and his incomprehension towards the organizers Italians of the test.
In a response to a question asked on Eurosport, the native of Briançon demonstrated that he was not a fan of wooden language.
Here is a full reproduction of his remarks.
“My opinion is clear: here, they don’t know how to prepare a track. They’ve been preparing trails for 40 years but they don’t know how to do anything at all except dangerous things.
»Me, I love downhill, I like when there is commitment, when it requires, when there is speed, big jumps. In Kitzbühel, they know how to prepare it and make it spectacular. Here they just make it dangerous. Tomorrow (editor’s note: Saturday, day of the World Cup downhill), there will be maybe four seconds between the 1st and the 30th. For me, it’s not something that really interests me and I find that it’s not respectful for us, the athletes.
»You get here for the first practice and it’s already stoned. The San Pietro (editor’s note: the longest jump on the track), we go 55 meters if we don’t brake. We have to brake. So…
»Afterwards it is difficult to have unanimity of words among the athletes. We don’t all have the same opinion. I have mine, it is decided, I take full responsibility for it. Tomorrow (editor’s note: Saturday)I will be at the start, there are no worries, I assume the risks. But I think this is really not correct. I don’t even know what they’re trying to prove.
“For me, one year away from organizing the Olympic Games, doing a track like that, well, they don’t deserve to have the Olympic Games here.”
