A 30-year-old woman stabbed in her hotel room in Montreal

A 30-year-old woman was stabbed in her hotel room late Thursday evening in downtown Montreal.

Montreal police were called around 11 p.m. for a woman injured by a sharp object in a hotel on Sainte-Catherine Street West, near Clark Street.

Officers from the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) who were dispatched to the scene located the victim injured in the lower body by a sharp object.

The 30-year-old was transported to a hospital center to treat injuries that were not life-threatening, said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

According to initial information, a conflict degenerated between the victim and the suspect who attacked her and fled before the arrival of the police, said the SPVM.

SPVM investigators had to travel to the site to analyze the scene and try to shed light on the circumstances of this armed attack.

No arrests have been made in the case yet, while the canine unit has been called in to assist in the search, it was added.
