Thousands of French households have received an important alert from EDF by SMS and email. And rest assured, this is not a phishing attempt but an official communication from the electricity supplier.

The price of electricity increases this Friday, December 27 at EDF
The alert targets 875,000 households who have opted for a Tempo electricity contract. An advantageous offer for a large part of the year which includes certain special days called “red days”. During these times, the price of the kilowatt hour shows a spectacular increase and a consequent increase of the electricity bill.

It is worse for a large household of 120 m² inhabited by four people with an average consumption of 30 kWh per day: the daily bill increases from 4.83 euros to 22.69 euros.

Avoid using energy-intensive household appliances such as the washing machine and dishwasher, reduce the heating temperature by one degree and unplug as many electronic devices as possible.
