– The Carrefour store closed its doors earlier than usual, for New Year’s Eve.

An eventful New Year’s Eve. While the Carrefour hypermarket in Échirolles, in Isère, closed its doors at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, many customers reported their discontent. The entrance gates were lowered twenty minutes before closing time to prevent new people from entering and some, who were planning to do their last Christmas shopping, found themselves sans solutionin front of the store, reports The Dauphiné Libéré.

The affair could have ended there, but the tension rose a notch and the security agents had to intervene at the entrance to try to calm the angry crowd. According to witnesses, a few people tried to enter by force, by shaking the gates.

The police intervened

Eventually, the police had to intervene to disperse the agitators. However, the police did not carry out any arrests and no one was hurt. Once the incident was over, customers left empty-handed and had no other choice than to look for a new supermarket in order to save their New Year’s Eve meal and the Christmas gifts to give a few hours later.
