The mountain lakes of the Pyrenees attract hikers from all over the world during the summer season. But some have more unusual ideas like organizing a wedding photo session.

The decor is stunning. Nestled in the heart of the Ossau valley, Lac du Montagnon is one of the most beautiful in the Pyrenees. Located in the town of Accous (64), very close to the Hautes-Pyrénées, it is renowned for its heart-shaped expanse. A paradiseis for hiking lovers.

A couple from Béarnais, originally from Pau, went even further at the beginning of this fall. He chose to make his dream come true: to take his official wedding photos above the body of water. A memorable memory which was coupled with a human adventure.

The couple called on photographer Jean-Charles Rivas, renowned for his original photos and a great mountain lover. Challenge met. At the beginning of October, after two postponements, the troop set off for the summits: “It wasn’t a given that day,” the photographer tells us.

“After 5 hours of particularly intense hiking, we arrived at the summit in total fog. The bride was scared”. But Jean-Charles Rivas, a weather expert, reassures them. He knows that the weather will change.

“The bride and groom have put on their outfits”he says. “The temperature felt like minus 4 degrees. After two hours of waiting, the first clearing arrived, we started the session and the sun let us work for almost 5 hours.”

There is no doubt that these two lovers will remember this incredible adventure. But be careful, warns Jean-Charles Rivas, this dream is not accessible to everyone: “Both brides and grooms were great athletes. It’s really not given to everyone to be able to achieve such a climb”.

In addition, the photographer, who admits “to having recently had other requests”, specifies: “I don’t like to return to a site where I have already worked, so it will necessarily be something else and in another place.”
