Manchester City, a Boxing Day to be reborn

Manchester City, a Boxing Day to be reborn
Manchester City, a Boxing Day to be reborn

Manchester City's last few weeks have been very complicated. Pep Guardiola's boys, since Rodri's injury, have no longer been able to find their feet, dramatically declining in performance both in the league and in the Champions League. The Citizens have left the top 4 of the Premier League and now also risk not returning to the top 24 of the Champions League. So the weeks that Guardiola's boys went through were complicated. The next matches will now be fundamental, starting with the match against Everton on Boxing Day.

Return to victory

Wednesday 4 December 2024, 22 days since the last victory, 3-0 against Nottingham Forest. At the beginning of the month Manchester City's only and last success. Guardiola's boys then drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace and then lost 3 consecutive games against Juventus, Manchester United and Aston Villa. A continuity for the Citizens that is unknown if you consider that the previous success was dated 26 October 2024, in between 7 unsuccessful matches, 6 defeats and 1 draw. We therefore need to return to winning and do so by convincing Manchester City that they must find a way to start again and do so with continuity, a word now forgotten at the Citizens.

Manchester City-Everton apre il Boxing Day

It will be Guardiola's boys who will inaugurate Boxing Day 2024. The match between Citizens and Toffees will take place today at 1.30pm and will be the first of 3 crucial matches that Manchester City will have to face between 26 December and 4 January. The other two matches will see him take to the field against Leicester and West Ham. Three affordable matches on paper, with City facing the 15th, 17th and 14th in order currently in the Premier League. Three opponents who are certainly not complicated on paper but should not be underestimated because getting 9 points out of 9 would be essential to get back on track for the next Champions League and to approach the new year in the best way. Manchester City will then take to the field another 5 times in January. Three times in the Premier League against Brentford, Ipswich Town and Chelsea, but above all in the Champions League they face PSG in and Club Brugge at home. Two European matches that will be fundamental to try to qualify for the playoffs in February.
