The New York Post reports the Christmas songs most listened to ever on Spotify. The queen of this ranking, and perhaps this was to be expected, is Mariah Carey with her song “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, which has recorded an impressive increase in listeners on the platform since November.
Mariah Carey, the queen of Christmas songs
As we know, Christmas always arrives much earlier, spreading its traditional atmosphere weeks before the holidays. We dedicate ourselves to gifts, decorations and get into the mood as soon as possible. This is done with Christmas films and also with Music, returning to dust off the dedicated playlists on the main streaming platforms. But what are the most listened to Christmas songs of all time? The New York Post reveals the ranking, in which we find some surprises and many confirmations.
In the first place there is “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, the most listened to Christmas song on Spotify which confirms the New York singer's role as the queen of Christmas music. The song, from the 1994 album “Merry Christmas,” became the first Christmas song to surpass 2 billion streams on the platform. This seems like a truly infinite song, which seems to have lost practically nothing since its release, on the contrary. In fact, it seems to be enjoying considerable success even among the youngest Spotify users.
Spotify, the Christmas songs chart
After Mariah Carey, in the ranking of the most listened to Christmas songs on Spotify we find the iconic “Last Christmas“, by the British pop duo Wham! The song, released in 1984 as the first single from the album Music from the Edge of Heaven, was written by a very young George Michael.
In third place in the ranking is the most recent “Santa tell me” by Ariana Grande, conceived in 2014 as a single from the Christmas Kisses EP. In the ranking, in fourth place, we also find a great success dated 1958, namely “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee. When they say the classic never sets.
Michael Bublé could not be missing from this special ranking. His “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas“, a modern version of Perry Como's 1951 song, ranks fifth. Finally, to complete the ranking, we find: the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms, “Snowman” by Sia, “It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams, “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber and the evergreen “Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano.
