Olympic snowboarder Sophie Hediger has tragically died at the age of 26.
Hediger died on Monday after being hit by an avalanche in the Swiss mountain resort of Arosa.
He was part of the Swiss national snowboard cross team.
Hediger was part of the Swiss team that took part in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
And in the 2023-24 season he also achieved his first two World Cup podiums.

Swiss-Ski sports director Walter Reusser said: “We are speechless and our thoughts are with Sophie's family, to whom we express our deepest condolences.
“For the Swiss-Ski family, Sophie's tragic death has cast a dark shadow over the period Christmas. We are immensely sad.”
The 2025 FIS Snowboard World Championships will take place in St. Moritz in March.
In January Hediger placed second in a race in St. Moritz
She was in a relationship with Swiss ice hockey player Dario Wuthrich.
His club, HC Ambri Piotta, published a moving tribute to Hediger.
They wrote about X: “The Ambrì-Piotta Hockey Club joins in the mourning of defender Dario Wuthrich for the tragic and sudden death of his beloved partner Sophie.
Our most sincere condolences to Sophie's family and Dario and a big hug from the whole biancoblu family.”
Olympic medal-winning Swiss snowboarder Jan Scherrer wrote on Instagram: “This breaks my heart. We will remember you Sophie. Be careful, guys!”
Many fans also took to social media to offer their condolences.
One wrote: “Terrible. My condolences to the family.”
While a second commented: “This is truly heartbreaking.”
A third said: “May he rest in peace.”
And another added: “I pray for the family.”
