The new Christmas song by Cleopatras is in rotation on the Controradio frequencies: “Christmas is for everyone”, a song that celebrates diversity and invites everyone to unite in the peace and love of the Christmas period.
“Christmas is for everyone” is a song that ironically plays with the meaning of Christmas as universal celebration, which includes everyone, without distinctions of ethnicity, sexual orientation or family dynamics. Christmas therefore becomes a celebration for everyone. But it would be wrong to define it only as a light piece; the reference to Jesus as a “black boy from Palestine, killed for our sins just as happens today, born to a single mother and friend of the marginalized”, is a clear reference, deliberately direct and provocative, to the current geopolitical scenarios. This is how Cleopatras describe the song, a historic all-female Tuscan rock and roll band that has been around since 1998!
“Writing a Christmas song was one of our secret dreams – adds the band- It might not seem very punk, but in reality many bands have done it, and we didn't want to be outdone. Trying to write an original Christmas piece proved to be quite a challenge; in fact, you need to find the right atmosphere, but without losing your identity. The text was born from a reflection on the profound meaning of this celebration; first of all, the true values that should distinguish it are often only apparent.
Musically it's a classic pop-punk piece that has been 'candied' with bells to give it a festive touch.”
