Released at the cinema in 2000 directed by Ron Howard, The Grinch is considered today is one of the timeless Christmas classicsto be strictly watched on Christmas Eve. Taken from the famous children's book by Dr. Seuss, the film was actually initially received with mixed reactions, especially due to the protagonist played by Jim Carrey. Many, in fact, were surprised that a comedian like him had lent himself to playing such an unpleasant character as the Grinch.

In any case, over time the film has certainly found its audience and is now a Christmas must-see, along with An armchair for two e Mom, I missed the plane. Today, however, times have changed: thanks to social media, and in particular to TikTok, fans have just discovered it an absurd assembly error that no one had ever highlighted before.

The user @redcobweb, in fact, published on his profile a scene from the film in which the Grinch's eyes… change color! Well yes, in the still image the unpleasant character he has brown eyes by Jim Carrey: it is definitely a small oversight, in which the actor forgot to wear his yellow-green contact lenses which carries throughout the rest of the story. And, apparently, the production also missed this, given that no one took action with CGI.

The viral video has already received over 1700 comments: there are those who claim that the Grinch with dark eyes is “even more disturbing”who peremptorily states “You ruined the movie for me forever”and those who are surprised by the discovery, writing «I've watched the movie a million times, even last night, and I've never noticed it!».

The reason for such an error is easily explained by the difficulties faced by Jim Carrey to take on the role of his character on set. Wearing the Grinch costume, in fact, required over three hours a day between prosthetic make-up, dress and contact lenses. The trial was so exhausting for the actor that there were constant disagreements with the makeup artist Kazuhiro Tsujiwho left the set halfway through production and was convinced to return only with the mediation of director Ron Howard.

As for the yellow contact lensesCarrey was initially required to wear them throughout filming, as the finishing touch to his transformation into the evil, Christmas-hating protagonist. However, the actor he found them terribly annoying and he complained about it all the time. At some points, therefore, the visual effects team was forced to intervene and digitally “yellow” his eyesas the star was in too much pain to continue acting while wearing lenses. Evidently, one of these frames escaped the control of the experts… have you ever noticed while looking The Grinch?
