A cargo ship flying the Russian flagl'Ursa Major, sank in the waters of the Mediterranean Seabetween Spain and Algeria. This was reported by Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian sources, who certified the mass rescue of 14 crew memberstransported to the Spanish region of Cartegena, and the presence of two missingnot yet identified.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the sinking was caused by aexplosion occurred in the engine room of the vessel. The Russian note states that the cago ship, owned by the Sk-Yug company, sank in international waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The Ursa Major, again according to Russian sources, it left the port of St. Petersburg twelve days ago and was due to return on January 22 to Vladivostok, in the Russian Far East on the Pacific.
