Universal Pictures has officially announced the first details on the new film project directed by Christopher Nolan: an ambitious transposition of Homer's Odyssey. The film will be titled “The Odyssey” and is destined to revolutionize the genre thanks to an impressive production that will make extensive use of the most advanced technologies IMAX. and will be filmed in spectacular international locations. The American theatrical release is scheduled for July 17, 2026.
The studio described the project as an epic and breathtaking adventure that it will bring for the first time on the big IMAX screen the legendary deeds of the king of Ithaca, Ulysses. The story will follow the protagonist on his long and dangerous journey back from the Trojan War, a journey full of obstacles and memorable encounters with mythological creatures and vengeful deities. This epic journey will test Odysseus' courage, wisdom and determination, challenging the limits of his physical and mental endurance. The iconic characters that will come to life in the film include Polyphemus, the sirens, the witch Circe e Penelopewife and faithful companion of the protagonist.
