Newcastle United made it three wins and 11 goals in a week to demolish Ipswich Town 4-0 at Portman Road, with an Alexander Isak hat-trick ensuring the Tractor Boys are yet to win at home this season.
Just 25 seconds had passed when Jacob Murphy slotted in perfectly behind the defense on the right wing and, although his cross was blocked, the ball fell to Alexander Isak and the striker finished bucado Arijanet Muric .
In a first half dominated by the visitors, Murphy shined and midway through the first half his excellent diagonal ball left Isak face to face with Muric, but the Swede fired his shot straight at the goalkeeper.
As rain lashed Portman Road, the home team were soon swept away by Newcastle's pressure. On the half-hour, Anthony Gordon dribbled across the Ipswich penalty area and found Murphy, who fired under the crossbar to double the away team's lead.
On the day McKenna celebrated three years since his appointment as Ipswich manager, the team gifted their opponents a third goal on the stroke of half-time.
Without being under pressure, Muric passed the ball to a marked Jens Cajuste who was immediately blocked by Bruno Guimaraes, allowing Isak to collect and effortlessly finish past Muric from just six metres.
Things could only get worse for the home team, who continued to be swamped early in the second half.
Guimaraes just missed a splendid shot at the end of a play: the Brazilian got to Gordon's cross, but his header grazed the outside of the post.
Three minutes later Isak scored the third goal, his first hat-trick for the Magpies, once again assisted by Murphy: the former Norwich man looked short of options when he was surrounded by five Ipswich defenders, but an ambitious back pass found his teammate and left Isak with the chance to score his fourth goal of the game.
With such a comfortable lead against a spent opponent, Eddie Howe has seized a valuable opportunity to rest key players ahead of the Magpies' busy 10-match schedule over the next six weeks.
Meanwhile, the hosts stumbled at the end of a disappointing performance, and will now turn their attention to tough fixtures against Arsenal and Chelsea over the Christmas period.
