The American Hustle star was about to visit the sitcom starring Steve Carell.
In the latest episode of their podcast Office Ladies, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey returned to their guest star participation in Amy Adams' The Office, revealing an unpublished detail.
Adams, known primarily for her film career, participated in three episodes of the sitcom starring Steve Carell but his presence was greatly at risk for a very specific reason.
There's too much similarity
“Amy Adams wasn't the first choice for the role” Fischer explained “We shot Hot Girl [l’episodio in cui appare per la prima volta la star candidata all’Oscar] for a whole day with a different actress and unfortunately she wasn't entirely suited to the role”.
At that point he entered the scene Amy Adams:“We had to let her go and replaced her with Amy” concluded Fischer while Angela Kinsey praised the star's ability to immediately understand the character. In reality, the concern was linked to a certain similarity:“They were afraid that Amy and I looked too much alike” Fischer said “I think one of the writers even said they were sorry but they couldn't take her because she was Jenna 2.0”.
The episode and the character of Amy Adams
The 2005 episode Hot Girl revolves around the events that unfold when Adams' character, Katy, arrives at the Dunder Mifflin offices to sell counterfeit bags, attracting the attention of the show's men.
One of the subplots of the episode in The Office focused on the male characters of the show who compare Katy's appearance with that of Pam (Jenna Fischer), playing on the similarity between the two and on the discussion that took place behind the scenes.
