THE GENESIS – Ghostbusters was inspired by the charm of And Aykroyd (in photo) for the paranormal. An article on quantum physics suggested the idea of trapping i ghosts. He wrote an initial screenplay with plans to star alongside Eddie Murphy and friend John Belushi, before his death in 1982. He then turned to another castmate at Saturday Night Live, Bill Murraywho agreed to join the cast. The choice to direct immediately fell on Ivan Reitman and shortly afterwards he was also hired Harold Ramis
THE SCREENPLAY – Aykroyd, Ramis and Reitman began reworking the script. Many scenes had to be cut, including a celebrity-infested mental asylum. It was decided from the beginning that the character of Ramis would be the brain of the Ghostbusters, that of Aykroyd the Heart and Murray’s there mouth
