After Liam Lawson he was promoted to Red Bull to partner Max Verstappen next year, Racing Bulls also need to find a replacement for the New Zealander. In recent weeks there had been a lot of talk about Christian’s interest Horner towards Franco Colapintobut the Argentine track soon faded due to too many accidents that the Williams driver had during the Grands Prix.
The final decision therefore fell on the French-Algerian talent of the Red Bull Junior Program Isack Hadjar. The 20-year-old, who this year finished the Formula 2 championship in second place behind Gabriel Bortoletowill debut in Formula 1 alongside the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda and he will join the already large group of rookies that we will see on the starting grid in a few months. Below we report his words.
Hadjar’s statements
After receiving promotion to Formula 1 with Racing Bulls, the French-Algerian driver Hadjar described the category as “a whole new universe”.
“I’m very excited to start my new role at VCARB, it’s a huge thing for me, for my family and for all the people who have believed in me from the beginning. The journey from karting through the single seater ranks, up to get to Formula 1, it’s the moment I’ve worked for all my life, it’s my dream.”
“I feel like I’m entering a completely new universe, driving a much faster car and competing with the best drivers in the world. It will be a huge learning curve, but I’m ready to work hard and do my best for the team. I’m looking forward to working with Yuki and learning from him: I’ve always admired him, he participated in the Red Bull Junior Program, like me, and we shared a similar path to F1. He has a lot of experience and will be useful for me learn from him.”
