The struggle of being Bob Dylan
Timothée Chalamet, who stepped into the shoes of Bob Dylan in the biopic which focuses on the singer-songwriter’s transition to electric instruments during the iconic 1965 Newport Folk Festival, has told how he performed all the songs featured in the film and ended up singing over 40 Bob Dylan songs alone, playing guitar and harmonica.
The actor explained that he wanted to sing live on seteven though they had already recorded some songs before starting filming: “When it came time to do it, it was just better to do it live, it felt more lived in and authentic. It caused a bit of panic on set, but it was worth it. And Edward Norton was kind of the one who led me astray by saying, ‘Do it live. You’re better live’“
