No, iPhone 17 Pro Max will not have horizontal cameras

A Russian YouTuber showed some renderings referring to iPhone 17 Pro Max which represent an unusual design for rear cameras. Unlike what we have seen so far, in fact, i sensors would be arranged horizontally in a sort of pill housing slightly embossed compared to the rest of the back, in a look reminiscent of that of Google’s Pixels. How much is there to believe in this rumor? (Spoiler: very little).

The horizontal design

The one to hypothesize the sudden change in design is the YouTuber with 11.5 million subscribers called Wylsacom, who, in a long video in which he also talks about other things, shows some renderings that would show the new look of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. On black background and glass protectionthe camera island would house a sensor on the left, the main one in the center and a third on the right, with the one for depth and flash in the rightmost corners.

There is also talk of materials with the return of aluminum and the abandonment of titanium, a 6.9 inch OLED display with variable frequency from 1 to 120 Hz, A18 chip with 3nm production process accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and full openness to Apple Intelligence. On the hardware forecast side, the YouTuber has remained in line with what has been released so far, but the design is unlikely to be so extreme.

The triangular design

It’s difficult to give credence to the renderings that talk about the horizontal bar for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, because it would require a net change in the production line and assembly linewhich instead should follow the path traced by the latest versions of the two Pro models. It remains possible, however, that only the special iPhone 17 Air model can mount the cameras horizontally, as well as a much thinner body than all the iPhones seen so far. Above, another one make it more believable with the Pro’s cameras with triangle sensorsas seen so far, which is still the most credible solution today. The new iPhone 17 will be presented next September 2025.
