Red Bull have replaced Sergio Perez with Liam Lawson. The New Zealand driver has raced with Racing Bulls in recent seasons. Lawson will be Verstappen’s teammate.

The New Zealand driver has been promoted and will take over Sergio Perezliquidated by the team after four seasons. His arrival is a continuation of our choice to promote from our academy, and Liam follows in the footsteps of world champion drivers such as Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. There is no doubt that racing with Max, a four-time world champion, is not an easy task, but I am sure that Liam can be up to it, achieving top-level results next year“.

The couple formed by Verstappen and Perez had already officially broken up. Red Bull therefore announced the arrival of Lawson, a talented driver, young, but with barely 11 GP in Formula 1. It has shown excellent qualities, but in any case it is a move that may appear risky at a time when the Austrian team, despite the title won by Verstappen, is not the best car.
Twenty-three years old on February 11th, Lawson has had a good career in the minor categories. In 2023 he was promoted as the third driver of Racing Bulls.
