The highly shocking images of the injury immediately went viral on social media, sparking concern among fans.
Donnarumma returned to Paris with the team late yesterday evening and will undergo surgery today further investigations to assess the severity of the injuries. According to what was reported by PSG, the goalkeeper will have to remain inactive for several days, thus ending his competitive commitment for this year prematurely.

Singo’s apology
Meanwhile, Wilfried Singo wanted to publicly apologize through Instagram: «I want to extend my apologies to Gianluigi Donnarumma. My gesture was obviously not voluntary, only later was I able to see that he had a significant wound to his face. I wish you a speedy recovery». On the other hand, Donnarumma would not have appreciated it at all lack of sanctions towards Singo by the referee François Letexier, and in the corridors of the stadium, during the interval, he would have expressed his displeasure to the match director.
