The Lawson era begins at Red Bull. Here are the words of the New Zealander and the Team Principal
The not exactly unexpected announcement has finally arrived. After Sergio Pérez’s farewell statement, Red Bull has finally confirmed that Liam Lawson will be Max Verstappen’s next teammate starting from 2025. The promotion has therefore arrived for the New Zealander after the results obtained with the RB Visa Cash App.
Here are the words of the driver and Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner.
Liam Lawson: “Being announced as a Red Bull Racing driver is a lifelong dream, it’s something I’ve wanted and worked towards since I was eight years old. It’s been an incredible journey so far. I want to sincerely thank the entire Visa Cash App RB team for their support, the last six races have played a fundamental role in my preparation for this step. I also want to thank Christian, Helmut and the whole Red Bull family for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I’m excited to work alongside Max and learn from a World Champion. I can’t wait to get started!”.
Christian Horner: “I am delighted to announce that Liam will be joining the Team in 2025. His performances over the course of his two stints with Visa Cash App RB have shown that not only is he capable of achieving excellent results, but that he is also a true racer, who he’s not afraid to fight with the best. His arrival continues the Team’s long history of promoting from within the Junior Program. Liam follows in the footsteps of winning drivers such as Sebastian Vettel and, of course, Max Verstappen. There is no doubt that racing alongside Max, undoubtedly one of the greatest drivers ever seen in F1, is a daunting task, but I am confident that Liam will rise to the challenge and achieve outstanding results next year.”
