The Italy goalkeeper came off in the 19th minute of the first half after receiving a kick from Singo: his face was swollen and covered in blood. No provision for the former Torino
Moments of terror for Gianluigi Donnarumma forced off the pitch during the first half of the Ligue 1 match between Monaco and PSG. The former AC Milan goalkeeper received a “cleat” in the face and was forced to leave the pitch.
The terrible Singo-Donnarumma contact
At 17′ the episode that forces Gianluigi Donnarumma to leave the playing field. In an action on Monaco’s right flank, Singo arrives in the penalty area with the national team goalkeeper very quick to come out low to block his opponent’s action: Gigio hits the ball which rises and Singo perhaps in an attempt to jump ends up hitting with his studs the player of the Italian national team. The former Torino player’s right foot ends its run directly on the goalkeeper’s face who also violently hits his head on the pitch. However, his conditions are yet to be established and only in the next few hours will it be known how long he will have to remain still and what the consequences of the collision are.
No provision for the former Torino
The intervention of the PSG doctors who entered the pitch to check on Donnarumma’s condition was immediate. Fortunately, the goalkeeper never lost consciousness but upon leaving the pitch, his face certainly caused concern as it was completely bloodied. Gigio was immediately replaced by coach Luis Enrique that he entered Safonov. The referee of the match judged the clash to be completely accidental and did not take any action against the former Torino player. But the Parisian team’s bench protested loudly, demanding a red card for the player, who had already been booked during the match.
Gigio’s difficult moment
It hasn’t been a particularly lucky year for Donnarumma up to this moment. The former Milan goalkeeper has often been questioned with Luis Enrique who also preferred Safonov over him. A farewell from Paris for Gigio cannot be ruled out either whose contract with PSG expires in the summer of 2026 and for the moment all talks related to a possible renewal have hit a dead end. A return to Italy cannot be ruled out either with Inter having inquired about the goalkeeper’s situation.
