The renovation work continues on the Church of the Madonna dell’Alto in Alliste-Felline. The works are sponsored by Italia Nostra Sud Salento which over the years first proposed to the Parish to participate in the regional tender which allocated the useful contribution for the redevelopment and subsequently supported and actively collaborated also with fundraising so that the building was saved from decay.
In fact, following the granting of financing by the Puglia Region to the Parish of San Leucio di Felline for the realization of the recovery and valorisation project of the Church of the Madonna dell’Alto located on the hill of the same name, financing which involves a total expenditure of 150,000 Euros of which 30,000 co-financed by the beneficiary, a group of citizens of Alliste and Felline have set up a special Committee to support the Parish of San Leucio martyr in raising the funds necessary to co-finance the works identified and which begin in June 2023 and end in December 2025.
To this end, the Parish and the Committee, with the patronage of the Diocese of Nardò-Gallipoli, the Municipality of Alliste, the Unione Ionico Salentina and the Southern Salento Section of Italia Nostra, organized a public meeting in April 2023 to illustrate the objectives and interventions and to launch the campaign to collect the necessary resources, called “Let’s Find Beauty Again” with which the works consisting of extraordinary maintenance were co-financed, as well as interventions for fruition and valorisation and communication, valorisation and fruition activities.
