James Gunn’s Superman is finally coming next summer, and even though we’ve been hearing about this movie for a long time now, there are still plenty of details to share. Recently, James Gunn talked about what we can expect from the film, revealing some minor plot details.

Speaking with Collider, Gunn revealed that the film begins “in the middle of the action. Superman already exists. Lois and Clark already know each other. Lex hates Superman’s guts from the beginning, even though they don’t know each other personally. So we start right in the middle of the action. It takes place in a short period of time.”

Not wanting to reveal any further plot details, Gunn moved on to talk about how the flight sequences were filmed. Not wanting to go for a fully CGI version, Gunn instead used a technique from Top Gun: Maverick. “We shoot a lot of our action with real drones flying in and around Superman and the people he’s flying with, the engineer, whoever, who’s fighting in the air. And we’ve done that on soundstages. Now we have these real drones small and crazy. We have some of the best drivers in the world working on it.”

Don’t expect too much humor, as Gunn says that “It’s funny, but it’s certainly not as comedic or a comedy like Suicide Squad or Guardians. There’s a lot of humor in it. People like Rachel [Brosnahan] they are so funny and so is David [Corenswet] it’s a lot [divertente]so there’s humor in it, but it’s trying to create something that’s grounded, but it’s also an incredibly imaginative world.”

“It’s fantasy”, he continued. “It’s taking inspiration from other things like Game of Thrones, where it’s this universe where superheroes actually exist. What are they like? There’s a magic there that’s undeniable.”

Superman will debut on July 11, 2025. We expect a trailer soon, so keep an eye out for when it drops.
