Scores, reduced times and ‘No Lets’: the rules of the Next Gen ATP Finals

As in previous years, the matches will be played best of five sets, each of these best of four games and with a tie-break (up to seven points) expected in the case of 3-3. At 40-40 the games will be decided ‘deciding point: no advantages therefore and it will be the player in response to choose the side of the court on which to receive the opponent’s serve. They will be applied reduced times even during field changes to ensure a high tempo in matches: players will be able to sit for 90 seconds at the end of each set, instead of 120 seconds in 2023. In 2024, on-court warm-ups will be reinstated after being removed last year. Players will warm up for three minutes on court, two minutes less than the ATP Tour warm-up. It will also be recovered the ‘No Let’ rule: Play will continue even if the ball hits the net during a serve, as long as it lands in the correct area.
