Cagliari’s adventure in the 24/24 edition of the Italian Cup stops at the Juventus Stadium. The 4-0 with which the Bianconeri got the better of the Rossoblù developed above all in the second half, when the Rossoblù had decided that “that was enough”. Davide Nicola deployed a 3-5-1-1 with Gaetano behind Lapadula, and a robust midfield made up of Deiola, Prati and Marin. In the first half Cagliari played well, as in the 1st minute they had already shot towards goal with Lapadula who enhanced Di Gregorio’s reflexes. As the minutes passed, the hosts took the field, but in front of them there was a concentrated opponent, ready to start again. The lead came thanks to Vlahovic in the final stages of the first half. In the second half the second half came after just six minutes thanks to a masterpiece free kick from Koopmeiners.
“IT’S GOOD LIKE THIS.” After the former Atalanta’s goal, Cagliari effectively no longer existed. Nicola’s team pulled out all the stops as if they wanted to save themselves for Sunday’s match against Venezia, a team that instead put Juventus to the test. There were also goals from Conceicao, who took the measure of Augello and drove him crazy in every duel, and from Nico Gonzales, who took advantage of the gentle gap granted by the opposing defense, which put exclamation points on the result. The only worry for Di Gregorio was a central shot by Prati in the 91st minute.
BIG PROBLEM FOR NICOLA. The Piedmontese coach tried to straighten out the result by resorting to the various Piccoli, Pavoletti, Felici, but the truth is that his Cagliari continues to struggle tremendously to score. Yesterday too, as in the match against Atalanta, something was created, but without realizing anything. Piccoli scores little, the others even less, and the next transfer window would suggest signing a striker with the so-called killer instinct. It seems like a paradox considering that the rossoblù is one of the teams with the highest number of shots on target in Serie A. Next Sunday the calendar includes the clash with a Venezia who will sell their lives dearly to find the victory, and if Nicola doesn’t get out something from his hat to solve the goal problem for the rossoblù will be really tough. And if you don’t score, you don’t win, ergo it will be difficult to maintain the category.
SCUFFET’S UNHAPPY RETURN. The former Udinese player was seen again between the posts, having lost his starting place a few games ago to the benefit of Sherri. Started well, with an important intervention on Conceicao, he conceded four goals on which he seemed not to be guilty. In January the sale could be inevitable.
