Juventus beat Cagliari 4-0 in the round of 16 of the Italian Cup. At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Thiago Motta’s men get through the match between the first and second half. Dusan Vlahovic broke the deadlock in the 44th minute with a turn after controlling Yidliz’s pass, then in the second half it was Koopmeiners’ free kick (53′) that doubled the lead. The Bianconeri get the trio 10′ from the end, with Conceiçao who hits Scuffet with a left foot, then Nico Gonzalez’s spoon (89′) ends the match. In the quarterfinals Juvetnus will face Empoli who eliminated Fiorentina in the round of 16.

Without Cambiaso and with Danilo and Gatti on the bench, Thiago Motta redesigned the Juventus defense by deploying Locatelli at centre-back and McKennie at full-back, while Koopmeiners dropped back to midfield alongside Thuram behind Yildiz as attacking midfielder. Nicola responds with a 4-4-1-1 with Lapadula as the offensive terminal and Gaetano behind him.

It takes Cagliari just 38 seconds to make Juventus understand that they didn’t go to Turin just for their presence. In fact, the ball that made it 0-1 for the Sardinians happened first at the feet of Lapadula and then at those of Deiola and Marin, with Di Gregorio putting his foot in to say no to the rossoblù attack. Juventus’ response came in the 12th minute with Yildiz, at the end of minutes of continuous ball possession for the Bianconeri, with the Turk attempting a shot at the far post with the ball ending well to the bottom. Dress rehearsal for the Bianconeri’s lead which came in the 44th minute with Vlahovic: the Serbian received with his back to goal from Yildiz, as a true centre-forward he took a position on Wieteska and with a diagonal left-footed shot gave the Old Lady the lead. A goal that explodes the Stadium and allows Juve to end the first half ahead.

No changes at half-time, with the second half starting with a more determined Juventus than at the start of the first 45 minutes. And the second goal comes after 8′, with a free kick from Koopmeiners who in the 53rd minute hits Scuffet with an uncatchable shot. A minute later Vlahovic lands the trio of scavetto, but Feliciani cancels it due to the Serbian’s offside position. In the 89th minute Conceiçao comes back from the right as usual on the left, with Palomino unable to put his foot down to prevent the Portuguese goal. The icing on the cake comes from Nico Gonzalez who in the 80th minute on the counterattack finds the poker.

For the Italian Cup Roma-Samp will be on the pitch tonight, Inter against Udinese on Thursday.
