The Football calendar year ended with the traditional ceremony of “The Best Fifa Football Awards“ at the Aspire Academy in Doha. During the gala dinner, prizes were awarded to the best male and female footballers of the 2023/2024 season, as well as the best coach, the best goal (male and female) and the Top XI.
The Best Fifa Football Awards: all the names of the winners
During the evening, Vinicius Jr was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player for the first time: the Brazilian, with 48 points, managed to finish ahead of Rodri (43 points) and clubmate Bellingham (37 points). After the terrible defeat at the Ballon d’Or, therefore, the Real Madrid striker managed to get the better of the Manchester City midfielder and thus inherited the award from Lionel Messi. Aitana Bonmati (52 points) was instead named best footballer of 2024, maintaining the award won last season.
Emiliano Martinez e Alyssa Naher they were respectively named FIFA’s best male and female goalkeeper: the Argentinian from Aston Villa trailed second-placed Ederson by 10 points; for the American, however, a less clear victory against Cata Coll.
The best coaches of the last football calendar year were Carlo Ancelottifor the male category, e Emma Hayes for the feminine.
The Brazilians were also rewarded Alejandro Garnacho e Marta for scoring the best goals of the 2023/2024 season. The Manchester United footballer was recognized for the goal he scored in the Premier League match against Everton; Marta instead received the “Marta Award”, a recognition established in 2024 to honor the Brazilian footballer herself, a true superstar of green and gold women’s football.

Special recognition
During the evening, there will also be space for humanity with the awarding of Fan Award and of Fair Play Award. The first was won by Guilherme Gandra Mouraan eight-year-old Brazilian boy suffering from a rare pathology who, after pneumonia, woke up from a 16-day coma. The child is a huge fan of Vasco da Gama, a club that visited him in hospital during his convalescence. The second prize was won by Thiago MaiaBrazilian midfielder for Internacional: the footballer became a protagonist during the floods that hit Brazil last May, saving an elderly lady. The video of the rescue immediately went viral and FIFA wanted to reward Maia for his commitment and altruism.
