The US star revealed at a recent screening of the Christmas cult classic that he had toyed with the idea of buying the property to make it a sort of themed attraction for fans
Mom, I missed the planethe 1990 film by Chris Columbus with Macaulay Culkinhas occupied a special place among Christmas films for decades and even its protagonist, who recently revealed that he is not against returning to the set for a new chapter in the story, has not stopped thinking about the film that, as a child, made him an international star.
The actor, now forty-four years old, admitted that he had thought about buying the house where the film is set.
The idea came to him last summer when he learned that the property had been put up for sale.

“I had half a mind to buy it,” Macaulay Culkin told the audience at a special screening of Mom, I missed the plane which took place in Illinois, at the Rosemont Theatre.
The actor, who stopped to answer questions and curiosities from the audience, revealed that he had considered the possibility of purchasing the Chicago house which was the home of the McCallisters in the film to create something for the many fans of the Christmas comedy .
The actor thought of transform the villa into an attraction for the publicsort of theme park where visitors could relive an experience similar to that of little Kevin left alone at home making trouble.
However, the project remained just an idea. “I have children,” said Culkin, who went on to add: “I’m a busy personBoys”.
The actor referred to his two children born from the relationship withcurrent partner, Brenda Songboth still very young (the first was born in 2021, the second in the spring of 2023). For now there is no space for this idea (which would turn out to be an excellent business) but it is not excluded that in the future the actor could reconsider it – unless someone decides to move in this direction before him.

Mom I missed the plane will be thirty-five years since its release in 2025 and its formidable protagonist has honored the film by participating in a series of special screenings for the United Statesand tour of fourteen dates entitled “A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Cukin”, which was an opportunity to discuss with fans a film that is universally considered a great Christmas classic.

Macaulay Culkin grew up for better or for worse, in the shadow of the success of the two Columbus comedies and for a long time ruled out the possibility of returning to the set for a project of this type.

Today he could be the father of a little McCallister troublemaker. Who knows, maybe in the future the actor will be able to surprise his many admirers.
