The 9th art is in the spotlight. THE RTL Comics Grand Prix 2024, with Cultura, is awarded to Ulysse & Cyrano, by Xavier Dorison, Antoine Cristau and Stephane Servain.
Two destinies that should never have crossed paths. Ulysse Ducerf, young man from a good family. His father already imagines him going to polytechnic and taking over the family factory. Except that Ulysses is more of the dreamer, head in the air type. And when one day he meets Cyrano, a former chef, epicurean, passionate and fascinating, Ulysses tells himself that there is a life besides math.
9 selected comics, one per month. Except summer. And at the end of November the jury met to choose the comic strip of the year. To be honest, the debates were lively.
Graphically for example, The Road by Manu Larcenet, who was also in the running, was undoubtedly above the rest. With virtuoso drawing, all atmospheric, very detailed. Ulysses and Cyrano is more classic on this level. But what appealed to the jury was that it was a feel good album. An invitation to reflect, the search for happiness.
