Friday, December 13, the mayor, Christian Meyrand, welcomed Laurent Suau, president of the Departmental Council and Sdis, Sophie Pantel deputy, Colonel Bruno Doury deputy departmental director, deputy head of Sdis, the heads of the fire brigade center of Saint-Chély-d'Apcher, Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole and Serverette, Séverine Cornut (Department), Éric Trocellier Satep technician, the mayors of canton and other elected officials, for the inauguration of the new DECI (External Fire Defense) of the municipality. The project for this DECI reserve came from a reflection by the municipal council following a request from the Selo for the protection of the Sainte-Eulalie European Bison Reserve, the protection of the forest heritage, the installations municipal and residential areas.

This €30,560 project excluding tax was financed to the tune of €10,910 by the Department, €7,000 by the community of communes of Terres d'Apcher Margeride Aubrac, and the rest by the municipality. “This DECI is a new skill that has been incumbent on mayors since 2015. This skill consists of guaranteeing that all water points listed in the municipality are functioning properly, that fire hydrants are functioning properly, and that they produce drinking water.explained Éric Trocellier, Satep technician. Currently, there have been eight DECIs carried out in Lozère since 2020. On Margeride, we note: Saint-Denis-en-Margeride, Blavignac, Le Malzieu-Forain, Severette (aspiration point in Truyère) and the planned Saint- Peter the Elder.”

“The DECI is a flexible PVC tank guaranteed for twenty years to compensate for the water deficit on fire hydrants. The goal: to provide fire protection not from the drinking water network, because this causes the pipes and pipes to be oversized. reservoirs to have significant flow rates, while with these installations we have the flow rate and the volume of water without oversizing the drinking water networks. Mayors who have a non-compliant or insufficient number of poles are good. they move in one point like that per municipality, and the department will support them financially.”

“This reserve is very important, because in Lozère we sometimes lack fire water points, and if there was a house or forest fire, this will allow the machines to come and get supplies. This DECI has a capacity of 120 m3 and we load 2 m3 on a fire van”noted Colonel Doury.
