Once again Morocco will not have to appropriate the most expensive African football prize which is the Ballon d’Or for the best player in Africa
Great and bitter disappointment for Moroccans here and around the world, for the FRMF at its head Faouzi Lakjaà, for the Hakimi family and even for PSG whose president Lakhlifi made the trip to see his crowned player in vain…Hakimi once again was frustrated to award himself the Ballon d’Or for the second year in a row for the benefit, again, of a player from Nigeria, this year outclassed by Lookman of Atalanta
All observers gave Hakimi the winner with the very obvious success that this year he achieved a Bronze Medal at the Paris Olympics and other successes which did not serve him to become Ballon d’Or
Certainly, Morocco snatched five Ballons four, the fifth by Boumehdi coach of TPM but that would not be worth as much with the Grand Prix of the Ballon d’Or if ever Hakimi had won it
Still, we know what Hakimi’s morale would be today, however we also know that the latter is capable of overcoming this brief moment of frustration and will quickly regain his lucidity, particularly with the next CAN 2025 and the Coupe du World 2030 where he will have plenty of time to respond to all those who played the game with him
