The day after the fire on rue du Commerce in Poitiers, which injured five people, one seriously, a new fire broke out in a parking lot in the Trois-Cités district, this Monday, December 16, 2024.
No casualties to report
Called at 6:15 p.m. for smoke in an underground car park at the rear of the building located at 1, rue de l'Acadie, 35 firefighters from the Poitiers Saint-Éloi, Poitiers La Blaiserie, Vivonne barracks , Jaunay-Marigny and Saint-Georges-les-Baillargeaux quickly located its origin. The fire consumed two tires and was quickly extinguished, without spreading to the apartments completely independent of the car park.
Around forty residents came out of the building on their own, which was not impacted and therefore no casualties were reported. The thirteen vehicles and the motorcycle which were in the garage were also not damaged and the smoke extraction operations were completed shortly before 8 p.m. An investigation will have to determine the causes of this new fire which could be linked to the four outbreaks of fire reported in the Trois-Cités district on December 15.
