This Sunday, December 15, 2024, around 5:30 p.m., a fire broke out in the former Charmes spinning mill, with a total surface area of approximately 12,000 m², and which is located on rue des divisions nationaux, at the exit of Charms direction Nancy.
The fire, which spread over an area of 3,600 m², caused a significant risk of collapse of the building as well as an industrial chimney.
As a safety measure, the D157 road was temporarily closed to traffic and the residents of rue des Bretonnes were confined to their homes.
A total of 73 firefighters were mobilized to control the fire and ensure the safety of the scene. The Director of Cabinet of the Prefecture, the Mayor of Charmes as well as the police were on site during the intervention.
The fire was extinguished and the diversion that had been put in place for traffic was lifted shortly before 3:00 a.m. All state services remain mobilized.
