What is this new Apple product launched on the assembly lines?

The launch of a new Apple product rarely leaves consumers stunned due to the numerous leaks and rumors that precede it. Beyond that, the habits of the Cupertino company make it possible to determine with more or less precision when this or that device arrives. All fans of the Apple brand's products know that they must set aside several hundred euros to obtain the new iPhone at the start of the school year in September. In 2025, Apple will unsurprisingly launch the iPhone 17. However, a smartphone could well take the public (a little) by surprise: l’iPhone 17 Air.

Production of the iPhone 17 Air has reportedly started

The iPhone 17 Air has just entered the production phase. DigiTimes Asia media confirms this thanks to a source in Apple's supply chain. More precisely, it has entered what is called the new product introduction (NPI) phase at Foxconn. A step that directly follows the development of the concept of a device. The new product introduction phase itself involves several stages, the last being mass production.

Remember that the iPhone 17 Air would simply be positioned as the thinnest smartphone marketed by Applewhich is why it is also called “iPhone Slim”. Well-known Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman estimates that the iPhone 17 Air would be 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro, which is 8.25mm thick. Better integration of internal components and the absence of a physical SIM card would allow space optimization. The iPhone 17 Air would work with eSIM, a digital SIM card.

Note that the smartphone would also have a 5G modem designed by Apple itself. Of course, we should wait until the American company officially presents the iPhone 17 Air in order to know its characteristics. A little patience, because Apple should not do this before the next school year in September.
