And fire and safety officer -SSIAP- of Montpellier University Hospital denounces moral harassment and racism on the part of his work “colleagues”. At the end of his tether, he filed a complaint at the central police station against eight named people.
The public prosecutor of Montpellier will decide on the follow-up to be given to this procedure targeting alleged acts of moral harassmentrepeated comments or behavior with the aim or effect of a deterioration of working conditions that could harm the rights, dignity, health or professional future of others.
This 42-year-old employee from Reunion Island claims to have suffered inhumane treatment for a year and a half, accusing eight other members of fire safety and security, “the red security agents” as they are called, by opposition to “black security agents” – the color of their uniform – from a private company, stationed in the emergency room of the Montpellier University Hospital and in particular at Lapeyronie from increasing the mockery about the color of his skin.
In his complaint registered on August 3, he denounces working conditions that have become unbearable, according to him, because of what he describes as discrimination at work and denigration, accusing one of his “colleagues” of having wanted to hit him , while he wanted to have explanations on the reasons for this daily treatment. He accuses his superiors and first and foremost the head of this department of allowing the situation to escalate, by refusing to act, even though they have been informed.
Burn-out and psychiatrist
This SSIAP agent turned to a lawyer from the Montpellier bar, Me Christian Dumont to defend his interests from now on, in the wake of the complaint filed at the police station. The forty-year-old who sank into a deep depression, with medical treatment, is now burned out. And he is being followed by occupational medicine, while his doctor who examined him on July 29 prescribed psychological follow-up. Since then, the fire and safety officer at Montpellier University Hospital has consulted a psychiatrist.
Internal investigation
According to our information, a administrative investigation on these alleged facts was recently triggered and the two heads of the department were summoned and heard by the HR department – human resources department – of the CHU, against the backdrop of a deep internal crisis. According to a CGT official at the CHU, “we have witnessed a significant turnover in recent months with thirteen agents who have resigned or requested their transfer since the management of the CHU did not respond to their demands leading to a strike last April in front of the administrative building of the CHU on the Route de Ganges, where they displayed a banner and organized a barbecue.
More than half of the striking fire and safety agents demanded a rapid reorganization of schedules allowing a day-night alternation of 30-10 each, which is not the case to date, “an infernal turnover of 50% puts endangering the mental and physical health of CHU agents,” according to a CGT specialist.
55 “red” agents
At the time, requested by Metropolitanmanagement had indicated that, “the work meetings were in progress, as we had committed to for the development of new schedules which will be submitted for the opinion of the CSE, the social and economic council, before implementation possible work of 50-50”. But these grievances came to nothing: the 55 fire and safety officers scattered across all the CHU sites have not won their case on the 30-10 cadence and ensure day and night work rhythms “which prove to be very physically and morally tiring”, reveals a CGT union official. Atmosphere… Towards new resignations in perspective?
