Béning-lès-Saint-Avold: A family loses everything in a fire, the town hall launches a call for donations

A terrible tragedy a few days before Christmas. This Sunday, December 15, in the early morning, a fire ravaged a residential house in Béning-lès-Saint-Avold. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The fire broke out on Sunday, around 8 a.m., in a house on rue Basse. Inside was a family, a couple with six children ranging in age from 5 months to 24 years old. Firefighters from Freyming-Merlebach, Hombourg-Haut, Saint-Avold and Petite-Rosselle were deployed, i.e. around twenty fire fighters. The firefighters' mission was first to prevent it from spreading to adjoining houses and then to extinguish the fire, the cause of which was not communicated.

Fortunately, the family got out of the house in time and no one was poisoned by the fumes. A 76-year-old woman was transported to Marie Madeleine hospital in following a fall.

Yesterday evening, the victims were relocated with relatives while awaiting a lasting solution.

A call for donations for the family

To help the family who lost everything in the fire, the town hall launched an appeal for donations. On her Facebook page she mainly asks for clothes for the six children in the family and also for toys and school supplies. You can drop off your donations at the town hall.
