The situation of groundwater deteriorated “between October and November 2024”, according to the latest bulletin of the BRGM au 1is December 2024. However, they remain very satisfactory since 65% of the levels remain above monthly normals.
« The levels of reactive tablecloths having descended, the risk of flooding due to the rise of reactive water tables seems to be receding “, we can read in the BRGM bulletin which emphasizes that it is however necessary to “ remain vigilant if charging actively resumes in sectors showing high to very high levels in November ».

The Roussillon water tables remain at a very low level
However, the situation remains worrying on tablecloths of Roussillon with very low levels and locally in the Hérault valley (alluvium and Astian sands) and on the south-eastern coast of Corsica.
Overall, the water table level remains very satisfactory over a large part of the territory: 15% of observation points are below monthly normals, 20% are comparable and 65% are above (respectively 12%, 10% and 78% in October 2024).
A more favorable situation than a year ago except for several layers
The situation is more favorable than that observed last year, in November 2023, when only 48% of levels were above monthly normals. Several aquifers, however, observe lower levels than in 2023: Artois tablecloths, Lorraine tablecloths, Tablecloths of the Western Armorican Massif, aquifers of the western Massif Central, numerous layers of the Aquitaine Basin and layers of the eastern Pyrenees.
