An inmate from the Meaux remand center (Seine-et-Marne) was discovered dead in his cell with his throat cut this Sunday, December 15, the prosecution confirmed to CNEWS.
This Sunday, December 15 in the morning, an inmate from the Meaux remand prison (Seine-et-Marne) was discovered dead by a prison officer in his cell, CNEWS learned from the prosecution, confirming information from Le Parisien. The inmate had a severed carotid artery.
According to our colleagues, it was by opening the locked cell door that the prison officer found the inmate mortally wounded with a large wound on his neck. The circumstances of the tragedy are currently unknown.
A police source told Le Parisien that the victim was in an area reserved for prisoners at the end of their sentence. He would be incarcerated on semi-release for armed violence at the beginning of October.
This detention sentence is intended for people sentenced to a sentence of less than or equal to 2 years or benefiting from a reduced sentence. As our colleagues indicate, the victim had the possibility of going out, during the week, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Following these facts, an investigation was opened, but the theory of suicide remains, at this stage, favored.
