The start of the match was surprising and was totally to the Canaries’ advantage. If Coosemans was not forced to make a real save, several attempts were blocked and a lack of communication in the Brussels defense gave his coach a cold sweat on several occasions. Offensively, the Mauves did not do any better since they had to wait until the 27th minute to shoot for the first time. But, as in Europe on Thursday, Sporting was able to demonstrate formidable efficiency. After a nice incursion between two defenders, Amuzu sent a good cross in the second zone towards Dreyer who found Dolberg behind. The attacker then did not have to deploy all his talent to open the scoring.
The competition’s top scorer could even have hit the nail on the head a few minutes later by heading in a good cross from Amuzu but it was too crossed (32nd).
