The Escort is a cult car in Britain. Normal, therefore, that this beautiful project was born across the Channel. More than a simple restomod procedure, some rather evoke the new term “continue-mod”. Because as in the case of Continuation Cars from Jaguar or Bentley for example, Boreham Motorworks uses chassis numbers approved by Ford. But rather than rebuilding the cars strictly identically, some improvements are made.

An obvious improvement is the adoption of new LED headlights, but integrated into an all-steel body, completely new, but in the old style. Also old, the 1,854cc 4-cylinder engine which, via a 4-speed manual gearbox, sends 182 hp to the rear axle. It doesn’t seem like much, but it’s quite enough for a car weighing 800 kilos, whose argument is not performance but the purity of the driving experience: no traction control obviously, but no traction control either. ABS, nor even power steering or power brakes.
Boreham promises “a visceral experience, and perfectly balanced, easily controllable oversteer”. And if you want more, it is possible to opt for a 2.1 liter engine, associated with a 5 gearbox this time, which claims 300 hp. How much for this marvel? Be careful, it stings: 357,000 euros. But for this price, you get four disc brakes as standard, a roll bar, a radio with CarPlay, and two years of warranty. So it’s okay.
Let us add that this car was announced here last June. And under the sails there was another legendary model from Ford. We will therefore soon hear about Borham Motorworks again.
