Saturday December 14, 2024, on the occasion of international migrants day which will be held on Wednesday, December 18, the Anti-Racism and Solidarity Collective met boulevard Maréchal Leclerc in Caen () to form a human chain.

A symbol of solidarity

From 4:30 p.m., voices echo on the boulevard “ justice, equality, solidarity» or even « equal, equal, no one is illegal! »

In total, around a hundred people are on the square: “We hold hands to show our solidarity. It’s symbolic and we hope that people who pass by will join us,” explains Martine Pasquier, representative of the CGT within the Anti-racism and Solidarity Collective.

In front of the human chain, paper boats are placed on the ground : “The English Channel and the Mediterranean Sea are a cemetery. This year will be a record year,” declares Anne, volunteer with the SOS Racisme association.

Around twenty structures present

The collective is made up of a twenty associations structures or even parties: “We are coming together today to highlight this subject. If citizens no longer talk about them, migrants no longer exist. It’s important to continue,” declares Martine Pasquier.

A conference on December 18

A public meeting will take place on Wednesday December 18, 2024, at the Maison des associations in Caen, on International Migrants Day, at 7 p.m., with Karine Parrot, professor of Law at the University of , member of Gisti and author from the book “Stranger”.
