” No ! » Doriane nevertheless believed it when Jean-Pierre Foucault was about to pronounce the name of the fifteenth and last miss preselected for the semi-final of the competition. A little more than two months after the crowning of Miss Brittany, Marie Castel's journey ended, Saturday shortly after 11 p.m., on the stage of the Arena Futuroscope in Poitiers.
Once the emotion had subsided, Henriette, a retiree who had come to share this moment with friends from the twinning committee, would have liked to see the young woman continue the adventure, “but I am not disappointed,” she said. It was a very beautiful adventure. I'm going home to watch the Miss France election until the end of the evening. »
Bad fishing
Organized at the last minute, the evening did not meet with the expected success, bringing together a dozen people in support of Marie Castel, in addition to the thirty or so residents of the town who had traveled to Poitiers.
In the small room, four friends, in their twenties, wanted to be present. “Marie doesn’t live very far from us. We came to support her because her journey makes us a little proud,” confides Doriane, 24 years old.
At the second coffee break, the competition for the most beautiful regional costume leaves the room wondering. The Pleyber-Christ audience finds the wink of the yellow fisherman's raincoat a little too cliché and not very feminine. “I hope it won’t affect the vote,” sighs Claudie, mobilized for the organization of the evening. “A pink sailor top would perhaps have been more suitable… Afterwards, it’s a designer’s work, it’s subjective,” she tries to reassure herself.
A lauded journey
At this stage of the competition, the small audience nevertheless wants to be confident. Since her title of Miss Finistère, Marie Castel has been the godmother of the La vie en rose association. Member and photographer of the association, Luc Abily smiles at the mention of his attachment to the promotion of sport among young people.
Former basketball player, Marie Castel took advantage of the evening to talk about her grandmother's cancer and her commitment to the association, one of whose objectives is to allow children hospitalized in oncology to practice adapted sports.
So, despite the disappointment, Claudie salutes the young woman's journey, before closing the small municipal hall: “I would be proud in her place. »
