Arts-Envies brings together around twenty local creators and artisans. In Figeac, this pop-up store opens a little longer this winter, until January 4.

The Arts-Envies pop-up boutique reopened its doors on November 23 for the end-of-year holidays. It will remain open until January 4, a little longer than last year, in order to also be able to welcome people who came to Figeac to celebrate the New Year.

Creators and craftsmen hold on-call hours

Around twenty local creators and craftsmen (mostly from Lot) exhibit and sell their creations. “It’s an opportunity to present our know-how outside of our workshops,” says Virginie Lakatos, on duty at the store today. The latter, who runs a workshop not far from Saint-Céré, is notably a creator of decorative sheep. Its art is also a way of promoting the territory, since the exhibitors work with natural and, for the most part, local materials.

A visit to the boutique is an opportunity to meet the artisans and discover, behind the objects, the practice of an art. “To create a sheep, I use 200 to 250 meters of soft, naturally dyed wool. I like to pack it down, so that there is a nice thickness,” says Virgine Lakatos. “Each sheep is unique, so it has a name and a date of birth.”

You can also have an item repaired there.

“It’s difficult to put a price on our creations,” adds the craftswoman, “because we don’t count our hours. Furthermore, we are dependent on everything, we are at the end of the chain: we are not in the food industry, for example. So what we offer must be exceptional and very finished.”

The boutique’s artisans therefore offer unique objects, very different from what can be found in large chain stores. Customers can chat with the creators, come back, and even possibly have their items repaired. And “what a pleasure,” adds Virgine Lakatos, to imagine one of our creations under a Christmas tree! “.

Ceramics, basketry, children’s clothing, mosaics, high-end cardboard objects, jewelry, leather, lamps, wood turners…: there is something for all tastes and budgets.

The artisans of the pop-up shop welcome you at 6bis rue Séguier from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
