A totally outdated Racing gloomy at Sale
A week after having defeated other Englishmen, those of Harlequins (23-12), during their entry into the competition, the Racingmen showed much less efficiency against the Sale Sharks, stammering their rugby as too often this season and bowing 29-7 in the 2e Champions Cup day.
With a reshuffled team – eleven changes in the starting XV – but a few executives like the Blues Nolann Le Garrec or Cameron Woki, Stuart Lancaster’s men carried out a bad operation against an affordable opponent on paper, outclassed by Glasgow (38- 19) last week.

Despite a clear domination in both occupation and possession, the Ile-de-France residents did not materialize several incursions into the opposing 22 meters, spoiled by hand faults (Rowlands, 13e) or indiscipline (25e) when they did not come up against the fierce defense of Sale.
The locals, on the contrary, hit the mark on their rare opportunities, taking advantage of their numerical superiority due to the yellow card against Maxime Baudonne (60e). Racing then sank, Sale even grabbing the offensive bonus with a try from third row Ben Curry (60e).
Castres in success
For its part, Castres won in front of its home crowd against the Irish from Munster (16-14) and relaunched for qualification in the final phase.
Despite three yellow cards, the Tarn club maintained its invincibility at home this season at the Pierre-Fabre stadium thanks in particular to two tries from third row Abraham Papali’i and prop Quentin Walcker.
The Irish briefly took the lead ten minutes from time after third row John Hodnett’s second personal try, but a penalty from Louis Le Brun gave victory to the CO, dominating in the scrum.
Heavily beaten in Northampton (38-8) last weekend, the Castres will host the South African Bulls in the 3e day in January before traveling to Saracens in England.
