A 68-year-old inmate sentenced in 1998 to life imprisonment for a triple murder (his wife, her son and her mother) and incarcerated since 1995 at the central prison of Saint-Martin-de-Ré, in Charente-Maritime , is being talked about again. Nearly thirty years later, he was tried, in his absence for health reasons, this Thursday, for having tried to strangle his new partner during a visiting room, says South West. He received a two-year prison sentence.
Strangulation, hematomas and bruises
On December 10, 2022, the woman with whom he remarried in 2014, presented him with documents in the visiting room to begin a divorce. He then goes crazy and tries to strangle the one who wants to separate from him. The medical certificate shows several hematomas, bruises and marks on the victim’s neck. It was another inmate who intervened to rescue her because there was no prison officer present at the time.
The court imposed a ban on contact with the victim for three years in addition to two years of imprisonment. The convict has never been released since his first incarceration, even though the security period was set at eighteen years.
